Design Engine wins planning for Guernsey further education campus
Design Engine and Tyrrell Dowington Associates have been handed planning permission for a major teaching campus on the island of GuernseyThe Les Ozouets Campus will be part of the Guernsey College of Further Education and brings together a sixth form centre, a university centre and an institute of health and social care studies.The campus will provide a range of classrooms, breakout spaces, workshops, simulated health care suits, technology spaces and sports facilities around a central hub.A main building will be linked to the existing Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, with the sixth form centre and a construction engineering building sitting nearby and connected via landscaped piazzas.The scheme is the latest on the Channel Island for Design Engine, which in 2013 completed the RIBA Award-winning Les Beaucamps High School.Director David Gausen said: ‘We are delighted to have been awarded this opportunity to lead the design of what promises to be a transformational project for the island.‘It is hoped that the campus will become a destination and place that celebrates learning and culture at the very heart of Guernsey.’
