Regeneration business Vistry Partnerships has submitted detailed plans for more than 400 new homes in Cheshire. The site in Leighton near Crewe, which is to be developed in two parts between Vistry Partnerships and Bloor Homes, already has outline planning permission for 850 homes.Under the proposals for 405 houses, Vistry plans to build 50 per cent of its homes for a housing association or institutional investor, or a combination of both. The remaining 50 per cent will be sold on the open market by Vistry Group, through its Linden Homes Brand.Work is expected to start before the end of 2023.The large strategic site, known as Leighton West, is located to the north-west of Crewe town centre and to the west of Leighton, directly adjacent to Leighton Hospital. The masterplan developed by Vistry Partnerships and Bloor Homes is set to create a residential development, which will integrate into the wider area. This includes the provision of new pedestrian and cycle links to connect the site to existing and proposed residential areas, employment areas, shops, schools, health facilities, Crewe town centre and the Connect2 link to Nantwich.Alongside the new homes, Leighton West will provide a commercial centre, with retail and health uses, as well as a primary school. The development will provide a connected network of green spaces, including play areas, sports pitches, allotments, a community orchard and a linear greenway corridor that provides a large area of public open space.Ian Hilliker, managing director of Vistry Partnerships North West, said: “Leighton West is a major development that will create a significant number of new, affordable homes, alongside a range of new commercial, retail and educational facilities for the local community. The development will also create a significant number of jobs for the local supply chain, boosting economic activity in the area.”Having secured outline planning permission last year and by working closely with Bloor Homes, we’re delighted to submit these detailed plans for homes we will deliver, and, subject to their approval, look forward to starting work next year.”
