Detailed plans in for sustainable residential community
A major developer has submitted detailed plans for a scheme which aims to create an “integrated and sustainable residential community” in Leicestershire.Bloor Homes is seeking reserved matters approval to build 200 homes land west of Ingleberry Road, Shepshed. The site occupies a parcel of agricultural land, enclosed to the east by Ingleberry Road and by Iveshead Lane and Ingleberry Farm to the south.Lined up is a mix of one- to five-bedroom dwellings, 20 per cent of which would be affordable. The layout includes areas of public open space and green infrastructure, with pockets of green space being provided throughout the site, a large linear park and the eastwest green corridors.A 15m landscape corridor has also been provided along the western site boundary. This incorporates National Forest planting and an equipped play area.A design compliance statement lodged with Charnwood Borough Council said the scheme would lead to the “creation of an integrated and sustainable residential community with a sensitive relationship to the existing settlement”.It added: “The proposals respect the local character but also move the community towards a more sustainable future, through a significant increase in housing choice. Development will accord with the principles of high-quality design and best practice to create a townscape that is both varied, and yet sympathetic to its environment.”The aim is to achieve a development with a strong identity and distinct sense of place, whilst at the same time integrating with the existing community.”
