Detailed plans in for housing on former gasworks
Detailed plans have been lodged for almost 120 homes as part of the redevelopment of a former York gasworks.The former Heworth Gasworks site is being redeveloped by North Star, alongside Heworth Green Developments.Contractor Tolent began work last year on demolition, remediation and infrastructure work to bring the brownfield site back into use.In total, the scheme is set to comprise more than 600 homes, set alongside a new neighbourhood park. Outline planning permission was granted in July 2020.A reserved matters application has been submitted to City of York Council for Zone A of the wider site.Approval is sought for 119 apartments in two five storey blocks, together with flexible commercial and community space on the ground floor.The plans also include new landscaped areas and access within the development.The project team includes Vincent & Brown (architect), Re:Form (landscape architect), Ellmes (project management), Aspect 4 (PMQS), O’Neill Associates (planning consultant), Dudleys Consulting Engineers (structural engineer and civil engineer), Tate Consulting (MEP engineer), OFR Consultants (fire engineers), Arcus Consulting (acoustic engineer) and Fore (transport and highways).
