Further details of plans for a £40m Paddington Village hotel have been revealed. It was confirmed last week that an application for the 221-bed Novotel hotel had been submitted by Ryder Architecture, alongside proposals for a multi-storey car park with a combined heat and power (CHP) energy centre on the ground floor. Now, new documents have become available as part of the hotel submission.Included in these is a planning statement, which gives more information on the project. The venue is earmarked for a “key corner plot” at the highest point of Paddington Village and lies on part of the site formerly occupied by the 1960s Archbishop Blanch School. This is now cleared and enabling works are currently being carried out.The proposal is to construct a 17 storey hotel building. The hotel would be occupied on 16 storeys with plant on the additional storey. It would cover 137,800 sq ft and include a restaurant, bar, gym, meeting spaces and pods, and a coffee lounge.Ryder said the four-star venue would be established as a “strong and clear focal point” at Paddington Village and a “key node into the city centre”.
