Developer gets green light for apartments on NCP car park

Plans for the first phase of a £37m project to turn an NCP car park into 258 apartments has been given the green light.Elevate Property Group has got the go-ahead for Phase 2 of its Liversage Street scheme in Derby, which will bring forward 178 flats across a five- and seven-storey building in the Castleward area of the city.The first phase of the scheme will add another 94 units on land on the corner of John Street and Castleward Boulevard.Both phases will offer a mixture of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.Elevate has also agreed Section 106 payments of £80,640 towards building a new primary school in the Castleward area of Derby and £34,560 that will go towards affordable housing or public realm improvements.In December, Elevate said it was “committed” to the scheme, despite the challening conditions surrounding the pandemic.Steve Dodd, managing director of Elevate Property Group, said the scheme was designed to reinforce Derby City Council’s masterplan, supporting the council’s vision for the area.He added that talks were currently underway with a large Midlands-based contractor to carry out the works, which would support and create a “large number” of jobs during the lifetime of the project.The scheme has been designed by BDP Architects, with input from BACE Construction Consultants and planning advisers Ridge & Partners.Liversage Street will be Elevate Property Group’s second major development in the East Midlands.The group is currently developing Trent Bridge Quays in Nottingham, building 95 townhouses and apartments on the banks of the River Trent, which will be followed by a second phase of development for a further 58 similar dwellings in Meadow Lane.
