Developer to appeal £500m housing scheme refusal
Ainscough Strategic Land has said it will appeal a decision by Swindon Borough Council to refuse consent for a £500m housing development.The company’s Lotmead and Lower Lotmead villages plan would provide up to 2,600 homes, up to 19,000 sq ft of community/retail use, up to 32,000 sq ft of business/employment use and a primary school as well as open space, more than 200 acres of landscaping and other green infrastructure, including nature conservation.Two planning applications were submitted in May 2015 to develop the two new villages with a target determination date originally set as 28 August 2015. Both applications were refused by planning officers, using delegated powers, in June 2016.
