E-gaming centre plans lodged
Plans have been lodged for an e-gaming centre under a new-build student accommodation development in Sheffield.DLP Planning, on behalf of EG Sheffield, has submitted a full planning application to Sheffield City Council for Unit 2 of Bailey Fields on Rockingham Street.The Bailey Fields development was completed during 2018 and comprises 542 student flats and two-ground floor commercial units.Planning permission is sought for the conversion of the currently-vacant unit into an e-gaming centre, comprising up to 50 high-end gaming PC units and a number of game consoles.Use of the units would be charged on an hourly basis. Some cold food and drink would be sold on the premises but no alcohol would be served.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said the proposal would “secure an active use” for the vacant unit and would “help to create a varied mix use at ground level”.
