East Yorkshire joinery wins £4m new contracts

An East Yorkshire joinery business has secured new contracts worth a combined £4m covering new hotel, health, community and student accommodation developments.It marks the best start to a year in terms of new contracts for Melton-based Kingston Joinery in its 11-year history, putting it well on course to beat last year’s turnover figure of £6m.New projects include a 42-week contract at the site of a new multimillion-pound residential development in Leeds, where 744 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments will be developed as part of the ‘Sweet Street’ scheme, led by Interserve.Kingston Joinery is also currently working on the final stages of an £800,000 contract at the new Hilton Hotel at Doncaster Racecourse and on the development of an £8.5m 11-storey student accommodation complex in Sheffield for North Midland Construction.The company has also been working for Harrogate based HACS Construction Ltd to transform the mid-18th century grade II-listed Grantley Hall in Ripon, North Yorkshire, into a five star 47 bedroom hotel and spa, and for Kier Construction on a £400,000 contract at the new £16.4m staff accommodation block at Grimsby hospital, where 220 homes are being created to attract workers to the health service.This summer, it will work for Hull-based Hobson & Porter at the new Preston Road Women’s Centre, and with Interserve at the University of Nottingham’s new Cripps Health Centre.
