Energy company Ecotricity has submitted plans for a new green gas mill in Gloucestershire which could support about 30 jobs and generate £60m for the local economy. The Fiddington Green Gas Mill will produce enough clean gas to power the equivalent of more than 6,000 homes every year. The company will invest £10m to build the Green Gas Mill and for each year of its 20 year operation, the project will put £3m into the local economy through supply contracts and employment.Up to eight specialist jobs will be created to run the facility, while the new supply contracts with farmers will require about 20 personnel. The project will be built on land between Fiddington and the M5 in Gloucestershire.Green gas will be produced through the process of anaerobic digestion from grass harvested from farms surrounding the mill. This will go into the national grid while a natural fertiliser as a by-product will go back onto farmland.
