Edinburgh Council approves plans for new EICC hotel and hotel school
The City of Edinburgh Council has voted in favour of the creation of a new four star 350-bedroom sustainable hotel and hotel school by Qmile GroupThe Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) will operate the 350-bedroom 4-star hotel under a franchise agreement with Hyatt Hotels.The hotel will addressing the conference delegate demand issues for hotels near the conference centre.The City of Edinburgh Council voted in favour of the for the hotel and hotel school following a revised business case.The council will enter into 25-year lease foe the hotel with it being sub-let to the EICC with the money being reinvested to develop the conference centre.The hotel and hotel school is being funded by M&G Real Estate, which is being delivered by Qmile Group as part of its £350m Haymarket Edinburgh development.The hotel is expected to create more than 200 jobs and is set to open its doors as early as 2024.The hotel school and training academy will partner with Edinburgh College to offer a career path for students and trainees into Scotland’s leisure and tourism industry.The EICC-Edinburgh College partnership forecasts that it will train up to 200 people every year.
