Eight-storey scheme planned for cinema site
An eight-storey, mixed-use development for up to 67 apartments as well as commercial space could be built on the site of a 90-year-old cinema in Bournemouth if plans are approved. The proposals, for the site of the Odeon on Westover Road, were submitted by Goadsby Planning & Environment on behalf of Libra Homes.Under the current proposal, three levels of the façade of the former cinema would be retained as part of an eight-storey development. The site would include 12,884 sq ft of retail space, which could potentially support up 23 full-time equivalent jobs. Two other applications, which included 101 flats and 84 flats have both been rejected previously.Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council will decide on the project in due course.
