Emerging Plans for Ten-Acre Hotel, Homes and Commercial Regeneration

Plans for a regeneration project for a site in Cornwall – which include new homes, a hotel, commercial space and 75,000 sq ft of office space – could be brought forward after a scoping report was submitted for consideration.The proposals, known as the Pydar Street Regeneration project, concern a site in Truro and include 420,000 sq ft of space allocated for residential development, 6,000 sq ft of space for leisure and 27,000 sq ft of space for independent commercial use.The proposals also include provision for Falmouth University, with 28,000 sq ft of space set aside for academic uses, and 12,000 sq ft for student accommodation.The application for a scoping opinion was prepared for Cornwall Council by Cornwall Environmental Consultants on behalf of PRP Architects.Sitting to the north of Truro’s city centre on the banks of the River Allen, the 19.3-acre site currently covers a car park, the partly derelict council offices at Carrick House, an NHS office, Truro Bowl, retail and residential space plus a variety of old and partially dilapidated warehouses.Cornwall Council will issue a response in due course.
