Energy storage facility plans approved
Planning permission has been granted for a new energy storage facility on a site in West Yorkshire.Energy Optimisation Solutions, supported by PWA Planning, submitted an application to Kirklees Council last year for development on vacant land to the north-west of the Holmebank Business Park and south of the Huddersfield Railway Line.The plans cover the development of an energy storage facility within a fenced compound, together with associated landscaping and access.The facility would comprise 18 high-efficiency battery energy storage units 18 inverter units.It would provide electricity to the National Grid during times of high demand, and would have a storage capacity of about 42 megawatts (MW).The council’s strategic planning committee voted to approved the plans, subject to conditions, at a meeting last week (24 March 2022).The decision was in line with the recommendation of a planning officer’s report prepared for the meeting, as previously reported by Insider.
