Enterprise zone development proposals set to be discussed
Wide-ranging proposals for the development of Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone are set to be discussed at an upcoming public consultation event. The event, which will take place at the newly completed Lancashire Energy HQ from midday until 4:30pm on Friday, 1 December 2017, has been organised after Blackpool and Fylde councils released a draft masterplan for the site. The document aims to shape the future development of the enterprise zone and realise its full potential. The key principles of the masterplan include creating an enhanced frontage along Squires Gate Lane defined by a new gateway entrance opposite Lindale Gardens, introducing a statement building at the new gateway entrance, relocating the existing airport operation to the south to make way for a new business and industrial offer based around Lancashire Energy HQ, and safeguarding the future operation of the airport. The Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone was created in April 2016.The consultation is due to close on Thursday, 21 December. The masterplan will then be finalised before being presented to both authorities for adoption in early 2018.
