EON backs £200m Yorkshire Energy Park development
Energy supplier EON has backed plans for the proposed £200m Yorkshire Energy Park to be developed on a former aerodrome site in the East Riding of Yorkshire.E.ON has got behind plans for Yorkshire Energy Park and is looking at developing a sustainable energy solution to be generated on site.The company also owns and operates the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm which became fully operational in 2015 and has an operations and maintenance base in Grimsby.Project director at E.ON Jeff Parr May said the company’s commitment to the proposed scheme aligns with its European ambitions.Yorkshire-based developer Sewell and Eco Parks Developments Ltd partnered with London-based Chiltern, a national renewable energy, infrastructure and technology project facilitator, on the proposed scheme that could create 1,000 jobs for the Yorkshire and Humber economy.Located in the heart of the UK’s ‘Energy Estuary’, the Yorkshire Energy Park site could generate major efficiencies and savings for occupiers, providing competitively-priced, resilient energy.E.ON joins a number of companies that have already announced support for the plans, including Almax, IBM, L&G Investment Management, SSE Utilities, ZTE, Vodafone, the Association of British Insurers and Hull College.Subject to a successful planning application work on the Yorkshire Energy Park could begin in early 2018.
