FEC appoints team Red Bank
FEC has appointed a multi-disciplinary team to develop a masterplan and hybrid planning application for the Red Bank neighbourhood. The work will be led by Maccreanor Lavington, based in Rotterdam and London, in partnership with Schulze+Grassov in Copenhagen. The appointed team has been tasked with transforming the largely brownfield area into a mixed-used development with community, family living, diversity and nature at its core.Centred around the first phase of the City River Park and with a focus on sustainability and low carbon, Red Bank will feature a mix of recreational, commercial and residential spaces, including 4,000 homes with an aspiration to deliver 20 per cent affordable housing through FEC’s delivery panel of Trafford Housing Trust, Great Places Housing Group and The Guinness Partnership. The application is expected in the spring of 2022, with the full list of consultants including Open, Useful Projects, WSP, Arcadis, Avison Young and Counter Context.Victoria North is already due to benefit from the government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF), with Manchester City Council having recently announced plans for a more than £51m of investment in enabling infrastructure, as well as the delivery of the new City River Park to be developed on the bank of the River Irk.
