Filling station plan set for green light
Plans for a new filling station at the junction of Stewartstown Road and Suffolk Road in west Belfast have been recommended for approval.Acting on behalf of Cedeareast Investments, Clarman and Co is seeking permission for a filling station, the associated infrastructure needed and two retail units.The site, directly opposite Woodbourne Police Station, was home to the Co-op for more than 30 years and was most recently a car wash.Ahead of a meeting today (13 February 2018), the proposal has been recommended for approval despite ten letters from concerned neighbours and one petition of objection from the Woodburn Trading Association.In a report to be scrutinised by Belfast councillors, planning officers consider the scheme will introduce a modern attractive use to a site in need of regeneration, providing an economic boost, new retail jobs and supporting the needs of the immediate local community
