First look of £18m transport interchange revealed
A first look of how Dudley’s new £18m bus and tram interchange could look has been revealed.The draft images were released as an outline planning application for the Dudley Interchange scheme was submitted to the borough council by Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) – part of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). The application follows a decision by the WMCA board earlier this month to put £10m towards the estimated £18m cost of the project.Other funds will come from a combination of sources including the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (BCLEP) and Dudley Council which is close to finalising its remaining funding.Subject to planning permission, the new Interchange could be completed by 2022 – ready for the scheduled opening of the West Midlands Metro extension in 2023.
