Fresh consent eyed for Magna Park extension

Fresh consent could be given next week to a major logistics centre which would kick off the southern expansion of Magna Park in Leicestershire.Harborough District Council’s planning committee will meet on Tuesday 3 March to vote on the plans for a 755,820 sq ft logistics building on land south of Magna Park in Lutterworth.The proposals from Gazeley UK, which would include 567 car parking spaces and room for 148 HGVs and create new jobs, have been recommended for approval by the authority’s planning officers.The existing Magna Park complex is a 500-acre warehousing and logistic centre and was constructed on the site of the former RAF Bitteswell. Magna Park South would extend to almost 220 acres.Outline planning permission was granted for three million sq ft of storage, distribution and office space in June 2018 with reserved matters granted in April 2019.After that consent was secured, the site was purchased by Gazeley.Reserved matters for the first phase of the development, which included the current application site, was approved in January 2020.
