Funding agreed for stalled waterfront scheme
A long-delayed Ipswich waterfront scheme which has been in a semi-constructed condition since the financial crash of 2008 is now set to proceed after a major funding deal was agreed.The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is set to plough £15m in the Regatta Quay project, known locally as the Winerack, through its Home Building Fund. The investment will be supported by a £5m facility from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) through its Growing Places Fund.Construction is expected to commence later this year.Once completed, the project will create 149 residential units and 5,000 sq ft of commercial space, and will support 56 new jobs.
