Furniture business lodges plans for new facility
Plans have been lodged for the creation of a new facility to support the expansion of an outdoor furniture business in Leamington Spa.The Barr family, who are the owners of the Woodberry Outdoor Furniture business, is seeking planning permission to redevelop its site on Bericote Road, Blackdown.Woodberry Outdoor Furniture supplies commercial outdoor furniture, gazebos and planters to UK pubs, hotels, holiday parks, golf clubs, tourist attractions, universities, councils and schools. The existing buildings on site comprise storage and manufacturing buildings along with a single-storey office block that is used as an office for the running of the business.”The business has been successfully growing over the years and needs new larger and better-quality office space to enable the business to continue to grow”, a planning statement said.Lined up is the demolition of existing blocks and the creation of a new facility extending to approximately 17,300 sq ft. It would provide about 13,400 sq ft of storage space and 2,400 sq ft of office space. The planning statement, filed with Warwick District Council, added: “Without being able to expand, the future of the Woodberry Garden Business is at risk, as the business has an established manufacturing and distribution operation on site with a specialist skilled workforce doing the work.”This means it is unviable to move the manufacturing, storage and office running of the business to an alternative location.”Collectively, this is considered to amount to very special circumstances should the LPA consider these are required to be demonstrated.”
