Further consultation on Ripon Barracks plans
A public consultation is set to launch on updated plans for residential development at the Ripon Barracks site in Yorkshire.Homes England previously carried out a consultation in autumn 2019 to help and inform the redevelopment proposals for the barracks sites in Ripon, with a view to submitting an outline planning application.Given the amount and nature of information the public has shared the decision has been taken to hold further engagement with local groups prior to the scheme being finalised.Meetings will be held with key stakeholders, including the city council, and the final proposals for the site will go on public display.Homes England is working in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to develop plans for housing and commercial space on Claro and Deverell Barracks in Ripon. It is the first site to be progressed as part of the partnership, which seeks to develop surplus Ministry of Defence (MoD) land across the country. The Ripon site could provide up to 1,300 new homes and commercial space over the next few years as the land becomes available.
