Further plans lodged for apartments on former gasworks
A further application for apartments as part of the redevelopment of a former York gasworks has been lodged.The former Heworth Gasworks site is being redeveloped by North Star, alongside Heworth Green Developments.Contractor Tolent began work last year on demolition, remediation and infrastructure work to bring the brownfield site back into use.In total, the scheme is set to comprise more than 600 homes, set alongside a new neighbourhood park. Outline planning permission was granted in July 2020.The plans for Zone C of the site comprise a total of 96 apartments across three five-storey blocks.Zone Calso includes the neighbourhood park and vehicular access onto Heworth Green, as well as pedestrian and cycle access to the Foss Island cycle route.A reserved matters application was submitted to City of York Council last month (April 2021) for 119 apartments in two five storey blocks on Zone A of the site.The project team includes Vincent & Brown (architect), Re:Form (landscape architect), Ellmes (project management), Aspect 4 (PMQS), O’Neill Associates (planning consultant), Dudleys Consulting Engineers (structural engineer and civil engineer), Tate Consulting (MEP engineer), OFR Consultants (fire engineers), Arcus Consulting (acoustic engineer) and Fore (transport and highways).
