Global firms job-creating site set for approval
A global electrical and digital infrastructure company’s plans to create a Northumberland base, creating 200 jobs, look set for approval.Legrand, which employs 38,000 worldwide, wants to construct a manufacturing building on land east of Enterprise Court at Crossland Park in Cramlington.The site would span 40,009 sq ft with a 17,006 sq ft service yard and 107 car parking spaces. This would include accessible spaces, EV charging points and motorbike spaces.The company is current based in Wembley in the UK but is seeking a new base in closer proximity to the offshore renewable energy sector and associated skills base.A report, which will go before Northumberland County Council’s Strategic Planning Committee on Tuesday 4 June, said that the relocation would “provide synergy and shared skills with existing facilities in Blyth as well as creating skilled jobs in Cramlington”.It added that about 200 jobs would be created.The development will go before committee with the recommendation for approval.
