Go-ahead for redevelopment of flood-hit site

The redevelopment of a Leeds industrial site which has been vacant since the Boxing Day flood of 2015 has been given the go-ahead.An application from Prospect Estates, supported by Roger Lee Planning and Implementing Design, was considered by Leeds City Council’s City Plans Panel on 14 February 2019).Committee members voted to grant planning permission, subject to conditions.The proposal covers the development of four new buildings of between four and nine storeys. These would provide a total of 272 new apartments, with a mix of one-, two- and three bedroom units. A 5 per cent affordable housing provision is included.A total of 136 car parking spaces would be provided, the majority in undercroft parking areas. Three commercial units would also be created on the ground floor of one of the buildings.The car parking will be provided at ground floor level to raise the residential units above the flood level. The buildings would also incorporate flood resilience measures.The approval was in line with the recommendation of a planning officer’s report prepared for the meeting, as previously reported by Insider.
