Go-ahead granted for 518-home Colliers Yard development
Plans for 518 new homes in Salford have been given the go-ahead.Manchester property developer, Renaker, is behind Parkside, a 41-storey tower which will be the third tower, alongside Bankside and Cortland, and completes the Colliers Yard neighbourhood, located within Greengate.Parkside will offer 518 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses for sale, as well as 11,000 sq ft of commercial space across five ground floor units.The tower, along with wider Colliers Yard development, will form part of the wider Greengate regeneration and Salford City Council’s Cultural ambition, to deliver an aspirational neighbourhood to both Salford and Manchester city centre.Colliers Yard will comprise three carefully curated towers ranging from 41-51 storeys high, each housing a mix of apartments and penthouses, as well as extensive public realm for the local community including a new public park at more than half an acre size, ‘Greengate Park’, a tree-lined boulevard ‘Bankside Boulevard’ adjoining a new public square ‘Collier Square’ which will re-frame local landmark and Grade II-listed building, Collier Street Baths.Designed by local architects, Denton Corker Marshall, Parkside will feature distinctive bronze coloured aluminum paneling across four main vertical pillars which will accentuate the slenderness of the tower.Parkside, similar to Bankside and Cortland towers, will also feature a two-storey buff-coloured brick podium, designed to be in keeping with the historical local brick-built landmarks, Eagle Inn pub and Blueprint Studios.Daren Whitaker, MD at Renaker, said: “Parkside marks another key step in our wider regeneration plans at Colliers Yard.“We plan to deliver not only high quality new homes with access to first class amenities for our residents, but to also create a new thriving city centre destination, and a neighbourhood that the city can enjoy through the creation of a new public boulevard, local leisure amenity, and the creation of Greengate Park.”Renaker is also creating another new residential district at the southern end of Deansgate, within the city centre, with momentum currently under way.
