The go-ahead is set for a new Belfast apartment scheme designed to provide almost 90 homes.Submitted to Belfast City Council by John Smyth’s Estates, the application outlines plans for the demolition of existing commercial units on Dublin road to make way for a new ten-storey residential building, providing 85 apartments with a café on the ground floor.Designed by Like Architects, the scheme comprises a mixture of one and two-bed apartments, with a communal bin and cycle storage also provided on the ground floor. The facility will also house a first-floor gym and a rooftop garden. The application site sits on western side of Dublin Road and extends to approximately 5,400 sq ft. The building within the south of the application site is occupied by Kitch Restaurant. The building within the north of the application site was also formerly a restaurant but is currently vacant. The site was subject to a previous application from John Smyth’s Estates for 75 apartments and a restaurant, but this has been withdrawn. The scheme has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
