Golf club sale paves way for 1,000 new homes

A Hampshire golf club has changed hands in a deal that paves the way for the construction of 1,000 new homes.South Winchester Golf Club has been bought by national housebuilder Bloor Homes.The 200-acre parcel has been earmarked by Winchester City Council as a site for 1,000 new homes, a park and ride facility, primary school, public open space and sports pitches. An agreement has been reached with club membership to ensure that it will remain in golf use until 2025. The deal was led by Crown Golf Property and Bristol-based boutique property development and investment company Sequoia Real Estate.The pair partnered up two years ago and are now actively promoting a pipeline of about 6,000 new home plots through the UK planning system. The terms of the South Winchester deal remain confidential. Shoosmiths acted for Crown Golf and Gowlings acted for Bloor Homes.
