Green light for 17-storey hotel
Detailed plans for a 17-storey hotel as part of the Paradise Birmingham development have been green lit.Paradise Circus Limited Partnership sought reserved matters approval for a 152-bed facility on land bounded by Paradise Circus Queensway.The venue will comprise an ancillary skybar/restaurant on the 16th floor, a ground floor ancillary bar and/or restaurant and a dedicated taxi drop off.Cycle storage facilities for staff and guest access to the Paradise cycle hub and car parking will also be provided.The application was reviewed by the council’s planning committee on 20 January.When completed, Paradise will have provided up to ten new buildings, including seven office buildings, a hotel, a residential tower and other ancillary retail and leisure facilities, as well as new public realm, squares and spaces.It is estimated that the overall development will have created 9,420 direct, indirect and induced net additional jobs on completion.The hotel has been designed through a collaboration between ISA Architecture & Design and Paradise masterplanner Glenn Howells Architects (GHA).
