Green light for 17-storey office building

Planning permission has been granted for a new 17-storey office building in Leeds city centre.Leeds City Council has approved the application submitted by McLaren Property at a meeting of the City Plans Panel yesterday (6 January 2020).The 330,000 sq ft office building, situated on Wellington Street, will provide 17 storeys of Grade A office accommodation with a range of workspaces.It will feature a roof terrace, gym, underground car parking accommodating 110 spaces, and commercial units for flexible use on the ground floor.Construction is expected to last 30 months and McLaren hopes to commence activity on-site by the end of the year.McLaren Property is set to unveil further details next month as the scheme is launched ahead of the international property festival MIPIM, which takes place in Cannes in March.OBI and Colliers are retained agents on the scheme and are said to be in discussions with several interested parties.The application was approved in line with the recommendation of a council planning officer, as previously reported by Insider.
