Green light for almost 100 homes at Port Loop development
House by Urban Splash has been given the green light to provide almost 100 homes in the next phase of development at Port Loop in Birmingham. All 98 properties will be built off-site in House by Urban Splash’s modular housing factory before being craned into place at Port Loop.More than half of these homes will be a new house type for Port Loop, Row House. This aims to bring a more compact terrace form to the development’s portfolio at an affordable price range. The remaining properties will be larger, two and three-storey townhouses. In addition to their own private terraces, the new homes will have central communal gardens for residents to use, with some of the townhouses overlooking the canal that surrounds the 43-acre neighbourhood. In total, Port Loop will provide 1,150 homes, along with new retail and leisure spaces.Birmingham-based Glenn Howells Architects are the masterplanners for the project.
