Green light for Andersonstown Leisure Centre project
Plans to transform the Andersonstown Leisure Centre in Belfast have been approved.The existing site is to be demolished and replaced with a multi-purpose leisure facility.The poolside area will feature a wide range of facilities including slides and wet play equipment suitable for younger children, a FlowRider surf machine and a number of slides. It will also house a 25-metre six-lane pool with 50 spectator seats, a 140-station fitness suite, exercise studios, a café and five-a-side pitches.The £25m project is part of Belfast City Council’s £105m, ten-year programme to improve leisure centres, programmes and services across the city.Works on the site will begin next month, with the new centre due to open in the summer of 2019.
