Green light for Bath Quays South development
Proposals for the Bath Quays South redevelopment, which will include new employment space and 60 residential units, have been granted planning consent.Turley has helped to secure planning and listed consent for the scheme, together with Penoyre & Prasad Architects, on behalf of Bath and North East Somerset Council. The development comprises more than 100,000 sq ft of new employment space, including a 54,000 sq ft office building. This will be complemented with up to 60 new homes, small-scale retail and leisure uses, and public realm works.Following approval from the council’s development management committee, work is set to start on site in summer 2017, with the office building complete by the end of 2018.The site has been vacant for a number of years, and a previous proposal for the Dyson School of Design and Innovation on the site was withdrawn in 2008 after the planning application was called in by the communities secretary. The scheme forms part of the wider Bath Quays project and is located within the City of Bath World Heritage Site and the Bath & Somer Valley Enterprise Zone.
