Green light for care home scheme
Plans to redevelop a former day care centre in Durham into a 55-bed care home have been given the green light.Auckland Gate Centre, previously Tindale Day Cay Centre on Dere Avenue in Bishop Auckland, has been earmarked for the transformation by Moran Healthcare Ltd.The single-storey building would be replaced by a new three-storey structure with 16 bedrooms on the ground floor, 21 on the first and 18 on the second. Each bedroom would have and en-suite.The scheme also includes a dining room and lounge space on each floor, a garden terrace on the ground floor, a hair and beauty salon, cinema, sensory rooms, craft room and specialist communal bathrooms.The plans have been given the green light by Durham County Council.
