Green light for major Reading scheme
Plans for a major mixed-use development, which includes new homes, a hotel and car showrooms, on a 20-acre Reading site formerly occupied by Hewlett Packard have been given the green light.Reading Borough Council has granted Kier Property full planning permission for a proposed redevelopment of Worton Grange, Imperial Way.The site has been vacant since 2006, when Hewelett Packard decided to move its UK headquarters to Bracknell.The proposed mixed-use scheme is set to include up to 175 new homes, 12 commercial units, two car showrooms, three retail warehouse units and a 120-bed hotel.The proposals also include a pub restaurant, a coffee shop and a bank. Kier also plans to provide new vehicular access from Basingstoke Road and Imperial Way.
