Green light for more than 200 homes at major Leeds development
Detailed plans for a development of more than 200 homes on the outskirts of Leeds have been given the go-ahead.Avant Homes, supported by ID Planning, submitted a reserved matters application to Leeds City Council last year for Phase 1 (Parcel B) of the Skelton Gate development.Outline planning consent was granted at the former open cast colliery site, located to the east of Junction 45 of the M1, in November 2017 for 1,100 new homes, a primary and secondary school, public open space, a local centre and a convenience store, as well as associated infrastructure.The reserved matters application covers the construction of a total of 215 homes on a 19.5-acre plot of land.The housing would comprise a mix of detached and semi-detached houses, and two apartment blocks, providing units which range from one-to-five beds. In total, 189 houses and 26 flats would be built.The scheme including 32 affordable housing units, made up of 20 three-bed semi-detached houses, one apartment block and a pair of maisonettes.The council has now granted planning approval for the development, subject to conditions, under delegated powers.
