Green light for new Kent care home
Plans for a 45,000 sq ft Maidstone care home with facilities to provide step-down care for patients well enough to leave hospital but not ready to return home have been given the go-ahead.Kent Medical Campus, near junction 7 of the M20, has been identified as the location for the new healthcare development. The 75-bed home will provide 24-hour nursing accommodation for the frail and elderly, providing a mix of rehabilitation, respite and dementia care.The approved plans are for a 45,200 sq ft building and will create more than 100 full-time equivalent jobs.The care home was approved by Maidstone Borough Council as part of Kent Medical Campus’ existing permission to develop more than 1 million sq ft of floorspace resulting in a centre of excellence for health, science and education for the borough and county.
