Green light for printworks demolition
Permission has been granted for the demolition of a former Western Mail & Echo printworks in Cardiff.Located on Pacific Business Park in Splott, approximately one mile south of the city centre, the facility and associated offices are no longer occupied by the printing press and the site is said to be unsuitable for adaptation.The bulldozing, which incorporates all the buildings and road infrastructure on site, has been granted by Cardiff City Council planners under delegated powers.Franks and Toms Architects is behind the application for the demolition.The demolition will help pave the way for 100,000 sq ft of new build industrial space which will enable regeneration, employment and opportunities for new businesses to open in Cardiff. According to the original planning application, 1 September is listed for the start of demolition, with completion by November.
