Green light for revised leisure holiday park plans
Revised plans for a leisure holiday park on agricultural land in Telford have been green lit.Montague Property and Marnwood Properties Ltd sought change of use permission for a holiday caravan destination on approximately 48 acres of land at Buildwas Leisure.Proposals comprise 106 static caravans and 48 lodges along with supporting infrastructure. The application was previously considered by Shropshire Council at meetings on 8 February 2022 and 31 May 2022 but was deferred on both occasions.Montague Property and Marnwood Properties Ltd have since amended the proposal. The council’s southern planning committee again considered the scheme on 23 August.A report for the committee said: “A refusal of the proposals contained in this application on the grounds that it would cause unacceptable visual harm to the landscape, or to the setting of listed buildings and other heritage assets contained in that landscape, could not be sustained.”With regard to the heritage impact, there are wider public benefits in terms of the contribution to the local economy, job creation and the delivery of high-quality visitor accommodation sought by the development plan.”Members voted to approve the scheme, subject to conditions.
