Green light for six-storey student accomodation at the University of Nottingham
Green light for six-storey student accomodation at the University of NottinghamApproval has been granted for the construction of a six-storey student accommodation building on the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee campus on Triumph Road. The proposed building will feature 169 bedrooms, including 34 studio apartments, and will replace four existing buildings, which currently house shops and cafés.Plans for the project were submitted in 2022. The application, submitted by Cardiff-based DPP Planning, offers accommodation for groups of four, five, or nine students. However, concerns have been raised regarding the area’s saturation with students and the provision of only four parking spaces. While the developer anticipates students utilising alternative transport, objections have been made, suggesting that students will inevitably bring cars, potentially displacing residents.Nottingham City Council officers approved the plans on Tuesday, paving the way for the project to move forward.
