A supported living residential project providing 20 new homes in Newcastle has secured the green light.Social housing provider Bernicia filed the plans with Newcastle City Council, with the firm intending to build 15 flats in a two-storey block and five, two-bedroom bungalows on Park Road and Newburn Road. Three of the apartments have two bedrooms, while the remaining 12 have one.The proposal also includes the construction of a new office unit, which would house on-site staff to support the residents, with 23 car parking spaces also provided. The development, which is 100 per cent affordable housing, would also create a number of jobs during the construction phase.Measuring approximately 1.3 acres, the application site was previously home to the Newburn Community Centre before it was demolished in 2014.A report that was scrutinised by planners on Friday 13 March recommended that the plans be approved, subject to conditions.
