Green light for transformative Manchester schemes
Allied London has secured planning approval for two landmark schemes in Manchester, including its plan to develop the tallest skyscraper in the city and the proposed transformation of the grade II-listed London Road Fire Station into a mixed-use development comprising a boutique hotel, apartments and workspace.The Trinity Islands development will incorporate five towers including one standing at 67 storeys, which would be the tallest in Manchester.Some 1,400 homes will be created at this iconic development and residents will benefit from onsite conveniences including a farmers market, education facility as well as a mix of commercial and retail units.Allied London’s plans for London Road Fire Station have also been approved. The Edwardian site had fallen into disrepair when the company acquired it in 2015.Following approval from Manchester City Council’s planning committee, the developer will convert the space into bars, restaurants, homes and offices, along with a hotel for which an anchor has already been secured.Deloitte Real Estate provided planning advice to Allied London.
