Green light given to more than 30 homes
The green light has been given to a new housing scheme aiming to provide more than 30 homes in Newcastle.Brought forward by Bernicia Group, the proposals involve the construction of 32 residential properties at Castle Square, Backworth.The scheme comprises 12 bungalows on the eastern half of the site, with eight apartments and 12, semi-detached houses on the western half.The new homes will be a mixture of two, three and four-bed properties, built for affordable rent and shared ownership.Each dwelling would have a private amenity space and off-street parking, along with 12 visitor parking spaces.A report for North Tyneside Council – whose planning committee met on 27 October – recommended that the plans be approved.The scheme has now been approved, subject to conditions.
