Green light on the horizon for Portsmouth plans
A mixed-use scheme earmarked for a site in Portsmouth will soon go before committee.Permission is sought for the part-change of use to a mixed-use development comprising commercial, business, storage and sui generis units at the ground floor.A two-storey extension with a mansard roof to the front of the site along Fratton Road would also be constructed, as would a separate two-storey extension to form eight flats.A report drawn up ahead of Portsmouth City Council’s planning committee meeting on 6 December said: “Having regard to all of the material planning matters which have been covered above, it is considered that the proposal would represent a positive addition to the area, would not unduly impact upon the amenities of neighbouring properties, would afford future occupants with a good standard of living, and would represent an efficient use of a brownfield site.”Subject to the conditions set out below the development would secure the necessary ecological benefits.”Furthermore, the development would yield new housing for the city, and it is located at a very sustainable location.”
