Green light set for more than 160 homes
The green light has been recommended for the construction of more than 160 homes on agricultural land in Leicestershire.Davidsons Developments Ltd is seeking the go-ahead to build 164 properties on land south of Kettering Road in Market Harborough. The proposal is a reserved matters application for phase one of the larger site known as Overstone Park. Access, layout, appearance, scale and landscaping is to be determined at this stage, following the approval of outline consent in 2015 and 2019 for 600 homes.Phase one is spilt into 10 small development parcels consisting of 108 market dwellings and garages and 56 affordable dwellings. These are a mixture of detached, semi-detached, terrace, and maisonettes.A mixture of one, two, three, four and five-bed properties are provided. The application is to be reviewed by Harborough District Council’s planning committee on 11 May.A council document published ahead of the meeting said: “The proposal delivers an appropriate housing mix, a layout that does not provide an over-engineered highway environment and a meaningful connectivity across the phase to other parts of the site.”Strategic soft landscape features ensure the long-term presence of significant mature trees and provide new linear tree features that enhance the street scene and assist in breaking up the mass of dwellings.”
