Almost 2,000 homes could be constructed on the edge of Northampton after the plan was recommended for approval.Applicant Barwood Development Securities is behind the bid which for land at Norwood Farm, Sandy Lane, Harpole, which was first submitted to South Northamptonshire Council in 2016.The proposal, which includes up to 1,900 homes as well as a primary school and local centre, will be debated by the council’s planning committee at a meeting on Thursday 7 March.The 258.8-acre site is currently predominantly agricultural land and located on the western edge of Northampton’s urban area.Planning permission is also being sought the demolition of any existing buildings/structures on the site and the routing of the Sandy Lane Relief Road.The developer has said the new housing would provide accommodation for more than 3,200 people of working age who would boost the local economy.
