Green light tipped for hundreds of new homes
Proposals to build hundreds of new homes on a site previously forming part of a Telford colliery have been tipped for the green light ahead of a planning committee meeting next week.Lovell Partnerships Ltd is seeking the go-ahead from Telford and Wrekin Council to build 233 properties on land North/East of Lodge Road Caravan Site on Donnington Wood Way.The site was previously part of Granville Colliery with this use of the land coming to an end in 1970.The site is divided into three parcels, A, B and C.Parcel A will include 90 affordable rent dwellings, a 76-bed extra care building, 20 supported accommodation units, 66 private rented sector units and approximately 4.8 acres of open space.The extra care facility will provide units for over 55’s with 12 units specifically for dementia care. It is anticipated that 20 to 25 full-time equivalent staff will be employed by the care home.Parcel B includes 77 market dwellings and approximately 1.3 acres of publicly accessible habitats and open space with a drainage feature.Additionally, parcel C will comprise an additional 4.3 acres of open space connecting to Granville Country Park.Designed by BM3 Architecture, the housing comprises a mixture of one, two, three and four-bed properties.The scheme has been recommended for approval, subject to conditions.
