Green light tipped for Jelson project
A development brought forward by Jelson Homes in Leicestershire has been tipped for the green light. The company lodged outline plans to develop land adjacent to Lockey Farm on Hunts Lane, Desford.Extending to approximately 10.2 acres, the site is formed of a single arable field. The scheme comprises two- to five-bedroom units, including a number of bungalows. It is intended that 40 per cent of the development be allocated as affordable housing.A statement filed on behalf of the applicant with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council said the homes “would be traditional in appearance and would seek to reflect the local vernacular and draw upon precedents within the wider settlement”.It added: “It is considered that the proposed development would not have any unacceptable impact in technical or environmental terms when assessed against the policies within the development plan.”The council’s planning committee will review the application on 22 August.A report drawn up for the committee said: “It is considered that the impacts of granting planning permission do not significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the development.”Approval has been recommended.
