Plans for the construction of a new petrol filling station in Lincolnshire – which is to create up to 15 jobs – have been recommended for approval.Rutherford Holdings has brought forward proposals to redevelop land on Lincoln Road in Horncastle. The site is located to the west of Horncastle town centre and comprises the Murco Petrol Filling Station, Mountview Garage and a residential property. All of the existing buildings would be demolished and replaced with a new petrol station, including six fuel pumps. The facility would be accompanied by a single-storey retail unit of approximately 4,195 sq ft.A statement filed on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposals would improve the overall appearance of the site and deliver economic benefits through the creation of up to 15 new full-time and part-time jobs.”This would enhance the economic function of the site whilst providing an improved facility for the benefit of the local community. Accordingly, we consider the principle of development on the site should be supported in line with local and national policy.”The application will be reviewed by East Lindsey District Council’s planning committee on 9 June.A report for the committee said: “Given the existing use of the site and its relationship to the town centre, the principle accords with the local plan, the neighbourhood plan and national polices.”
